Istituto Superiore Mario Boella is an applied research center focused on the innovation enabled by ICT and wireless technologies that operates in cooperation with other research organizations, universities and industries to contribute to the overall innovation process. ISMB research labs cover the whole range of competences and technologies playing a key role in the evolving Internet of Things scenario.
BASELABS is a software development company for sensor fusion in automated vehicles. The focus lies on data fusion in automotive applications, especially in multi-sensor-scenarios. With an own development software and project support, data fusion results can be enabled. Customers are leading OEM, tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers as well as engineering service companies and academic institutions globally.
The BASELABS team has a strong background in both algorithm development for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated vehicles. From our team of about twenty, eight earned their PhD in data fusion or related fields with a strong mathematical background. The team has a broad experience in probabilistic data fusion techniques from several implementations for leading customers from the automotive industry. Our software development team has a long experience in developing high quality software for different industries. CRF (Centro Ricerche Fiat), headquartered in Orbassano (Turin) with other branch sites in Italy, was established in 1978. As a focal point for research activities of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), CRF has the mission to:
· develop and transfer innovative powertrains, vehicle systems and features, materials, processes and methodologies together with innovation expertise in order to improve the competitiveness of FCA products;
· represent FCA in European collaborative research programs, joining pre-competitive projects and promoting networking actions;
· support FCA in the protection and enhancement of intellectual property.
Also through the cooperation with a pan-European and increasingly global network from industry and academia, CRF conducts collaborative research initiatives at the national and international levels in partnership with all the key public and private stakeholders concerned with sustainable mobility, targeting specifically the industrial exploitation of research.
Facit Research GmbH is a creative and innovative market research and consulting company. Facit focuses on customer loyalty in addition to brand and innovation management. Facit enables its customers to gain in-dept understanding of changing requirements, and work with them at an early stage to develop innovative offers & services. Infotech Inc. is an IT company focused on mobile and location based technologies. The company was established in2000 and is organized into three business units. Namely, GIS (Geographical Information Systems), Mobile Solutions (location based services and fleet management) and Navigation. Infotech is the leading digital map producer of Turkey and exclusive partner of TomTom, partner of Ericsson for location based services (LBS), LBS provider of Turkcell ( 4th biggest GSM operator in Europe) and strategic and certified partner of Oracle in spatial technologies. The company has a total of 107 employees in two offices located in Istanbul and Gebze.
Infotech pioneered as the first company in Turkey into many markets in mobile and location based technologies such as NeredeCell (first location based yellow pages application, 2001), Infomobil (first GPRS based vehicle tracking system in Turkey, 2003), EkipMobil (biggest mobile positioning based tracking application in Europe, used by 10,000+ companies). Infotech has also experience in large scale GIS projects such as, the study on a disaster prevention/mitigation basic plan in Istanbul, including seismic micro zoning (co-operation with JICA), transportation modelling and design of passenger transfer centers (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality), real estate inventory creation for General Directorate for Foundations, the first GIS based e-government project. Infotech’s vehicle tracking solution is a cloud based solution with more than 1000 customers and it received the “Global Innovation Award” at Oracle Openworld in San Francisco in 2013. Infotech’s LBS platform LOCATIONBOX delivers business GIS solutions to 100+ corporates and was awarded with the “Spatial Innovation Award” in 2014, at the Spatial Intelligence conference in Washington D.C. Infotech deployed 60+ LBS applications in 6 GSM operators in three countries with more than 100+ million transactions managed per day.
Magneti Marelli is an international company committed to the design and production of hi-tech systems and components for the automotive sector, based in Italy (Corbetta, Milan). Within the scope of its mission as a world-wide automotive systems and components supplier, Magneti Marelli aims at combining quality and competitive offer, technology and versatility, with the goal of making key technologies available to the final user at a competitive price. Through a process of constant innovation, Magneti Marelli aims at optimizing transversal know-how and electronic skills in order to develop intelligent systems and solutions that contribute to the advancement of mobility, according to criteria relating to environmental sustainability, safety and quality of life onboard the vehicles. To meet the specific goals of the project the Business Line Infotainment & Telematics will be involved.
Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany) was founded in 1953 and has a long tradition in mechanical and electrical engineering. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology comprises 19 Professors and currently about 650 students. The Professorship for Communication Engineering with Professor Dr.-Ing. Gerd Wanielik is working in the field of multi sensor data fusion and communication technologies. The goal is to investigate sensor and communication systems for the observation of the movement-state of the vehicle itself on the one hand and to apply one or more of the installed sensors to survey the environment of the car on the other hand. This includes other moving vehicles and pedestrians as well as obstacles on the road. Mathematical tools for this purpose are mainly model building and Estimation Theory (e.g. Kalman filter approaches). Research work is also done on road or lanes detection systems. For this application particularly the visual sensors and laser scanning devices are used (structured and unstructured areas).
